Natasha Drover
Natasha grew up in Postville and is a Beneficiary of the Nunatsiavut Government. Being from an isolated Indigenous community on the north coast of Labrador has strongly influenced her life teachings. Natasha recognizes the importance of advancing the TRC’s recommendations and the critical role they can play in addressing the harms caused by colonialism and promoting reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
As a Community Advocate, Natasha recognizes the importance of respecting the diversity of Indigenous communities and the different challenges they face. She values cultural sensitivity and humility, and has a desire to promote mutual respect and understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Recognizing that many Indigenous communities have experienced intergenerational trauma because of colonization and systemic oppression, she advocates for a trauma-informed approach to coalition-building that centres healing while also addressing the root causes of trauma.
